Urgent Security Notification

As your trusted IT partner, Gibraltar is alerting you of a new ransomware outbreak that was just announced. The new outbreak is the Petya/NotPetya ransomware which is a modified version of WannaCry. This new version is affecting a large number of countries across the globe, resulting in extensive downtime and loss of revenue.

What is ransomware?

Ransomware is a type of malicious software designed to block access to a computer system until a sum of money is paid.

What can I do?

  • If you receive an email message that appears to involve payments, or asks for personal information such as login ID’s or passwords, do not respond.

  • Do not give out private information, reply to text messages, download or open attachments or click on any links in emails you are not sure they are genuine.

  • If you are not sure of an email, contact support@gibraltarit.com or call the Gibraltar Helpdesk at 1-866-410-4427 x0.

  • Ensure that your business has a Business Continuity System in place.

  • Have a written disaster recovery plan.

  • Educate employees on proper computer use and social engineering.
